SHORT DESCRIPTION
This charcoal drawing, measuring 42 x 59,4 cm, is a commissioned portrait created within the context of the Transversal Truths docuseries at aconchego house. Developed through a live model drawing session, the work is part of a broader artistic and documentary effort focused on trans lives, visibility, and the dignity of lived experience.
Conceived as a bespoke portrait, the drawing centres on marion, a transgender individual who posed for the artwork as part of the series of interviews. The portrait approaches identity through line rather than likeness alone. Charcoal is used as a direct and responsive medium, allowing each mark to register presence, tension, softness, and resilience. the human form is treated not as a static subject but as a living narrative shaped by history, self definition, and becoming.
Lines of identity play a central role in the composition. Variations in pressure, interruption, and erasure reflect the complexity of trans experience, where visibility and vulnerability often coexist. the drawing does not attempt to resolve or simplify this complexity, instead it holds space for ambiguity, strength, and quiet affirmation.
Created during a live session, the work carries the trace of shared time and attention between artist and subject. This immediacy anchors the portrait in authenticity, reinforcing the ethical dimension of representation that underpins the project. The drawing becomes both an artwork and a testimonial, adding a visual layer to the spoken narratives of the docuseries.
This piece is available for sale as part of the artist’s contribution to supporting trans visibility and advocacy. A significant percentage of each sale is donated to the aconchego house association, directly contributing to its work in creating safe, supportive, and affirming spaces for the trans and queer community. Through this gesture, the artwork extends beyond the page, functioning as both visual narrative and active solidarity.
